Autumn Colors

First Graders reinforced their understanding of the changing seasons and explored the art elements of texture and color as they created leaf rubbings in crayon and finished their work with expressive water color washes.



Finger Painting Inspired by the Past

Second grade artists created finger paintings of favorite animals on textured papers inspired by the ancient cave paintings discovered in Lascaux, France in 1940.

Exploring Perspective

Middle School students used a vanishing point to create the illusion of space in their "Floating Box" drawings.

3rd & 4th grades practice the art principle of proportion & create beginning of the year self portraits.

I am very grateful to be a part of the Holy Redeemer family this year! I am looking forward to celebrating community, creativity and faith and to teaching and learning.

My plan is to introduce and/or reinforce the Principles and Elements of art through drawing, printmaking, painting, and sculpture. I plan to integrate art history into each lesson as I use the Liturgical Calendar as a guide and reinforce content with a variety of tools including technology.

I will use this blog to post fun and informative "Art Links" as well as student projects so please check back often to see what the children are up to in art class.
